I was born in 1932 so have nearly 80 years of experience to call upon.
I graduated in 1954 with a degree in chemistry and in 1956 gained a Master's Degree in Physical Chemistry. I have worked for the Atomic Energy Authority in research and chemical plant management. For the Central Electricity Generating Board.in Health & Radiation Safety. As a secondary occupation, with friends, started two small companies. I once stood for Parliament as a Liberal Candidate but a few years later left the Party as I became aware of the corrupt morality in politics. I gained membership of the British Institute of Management by examination and have developed a special interest in Organisation Theory.
My formal qualifications are B Sc, M Sc, MRSC, C Chem, MCMI, MRSP, CRadP.
I enjoy amature sport but shun professional sport. Sport should be for fun, not business. I still sail and race a dinghy at Club level and also play badminton at club level. I have also enjoyed non-competitive sailing and boating, including part building sailing and motor boats.
I have an interest in Glass, having researched the use of uranium to coulour glass and written two books on the subject.
I have also written one novel "By a Slender Thread" which is a yarn about terrorists stealing plutonium and involving much sailing. The title comes from the concept that "Democracy hangs by a slender thread" and is easilly corrupted.
I go back to basics with my ideas. Food is to enable life, so we eat to live not live to eat, clothes are to protect our body and keep it warm not to pander to our vanity, cars are for transport not status symbols, etc. If I don't spell my words correctly, what the hell so long as the meaning is conveyed!
As I grew up in the 1940's / 1950's I had the ambition to try and leave this life having contributed to a better World. I confess failure, both Britain and the World is worse now than it was all those years ago when creating the "good society" was my aim. Hence this web site where I express my views as to what has gone wrong.
